Dear Parents and Carers,

Our uniform page on the school website has been updated to reflect these changes and the Uniform Direct online shop is also now up to date. Please see the useful links below.

Pupil surveys reminder – deadline Weds 20th July with tickets still to be won

Now you have received your child’s report, we would be grateful if you could complete this final survey of the year.

We have also made a quick curriculum survey for children to fill in. It is great to hear what they think too. Some children have already won 2 tickets to the dress rehearsal of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony by filling in a survey! We still have some more to give away…

Pupil surveys need to be filled in by the end of today – Wednesday 20th July please.

Parental feedback is extremely valuable to us. Recent developments that have been undertaken following these surveys have included the following:

  • A small number of parents were unsure what their child was learning about each term. We have added a link to the home page of the school website that takes you straight to your child’s year group information page. Termly learning overviews can be found there: R Yr1  Yr2  Yr3  Yr4  Yr5  Yr6

  • Following feedback about bumped head notes not always being seen, we introduced a text based system to let you know if your child has had an accident and required first aid that would benefit from further monitoring. You can find out more here.

  • As there are a wide range of feelings regarding Covid, we addressed the individual needs of families by offering face to face, telephone calls or Teams meetings for parent consultations including the recent face to face sessions so that parents could have time to become familiar with next year’s expectations.

  • We have made time available each Friday morning for parents to see the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) team if you are concerned about your child’s progress or feel that they have a special need or disability. Just come to the outside door of the nurture room located in between Mrs Haynes’ classroom and Miss Martin’s.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Dear Parents / Carers

I wanted to reassure you that all of the measures we have in place in school have been effective in ensuring that children have been as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the day today. We have  limited the amount of time children have spent outdoors to a minimum, including restricting any vigorous activity. All staff are being vigilant in monitoring and supervising children, ensuring that they are drinking regularly, keeping to shaded areas when outdoors and wearing sun lotion and hats as appropriate.

Children should therefore attend school as normal and there are no plans to finish school any earlier than usual.

Thank you for your support with the measures below. As the forecast for tomorrow is for temperatures similar and possibly higher than today, please could we continue with the following for tomorrow:

  • Children come to school wearing their PE kits, which will be lighter and cooler than their usual school uniform.
  • Children have a clean water bottle in school so that they can keep well hydrated throughout the day
  • Please apply sun lotion before school and, if sending sun lotion with your child to reapply during the day, ensure that it is clearly labelled with their name and that your child can apply it independently and appropriately.

I hope that you’re all able to enjoy a cool and comfortable evening!

Mrs Pritchard 🙂
