On Thursday we walked to St John’s Church. We have been thinking about places and books which are important to Christians. The Rev Matthew showed us around the church and read us a story from the bible.

Mr Jones visits Muxton School
Mr Jones, Mr Bones and Mr Muscle visited us today to teach us all about keeping healthy. We talked about healthy food and exercise. We explored a variety of bones and then did a Who Wants To Be A Millionaire quiz. What an exciting, interesting and informative morning we have had.
Sports days: Reception and KS1 – Tuesday 5th July. KS2 – Tuesday 12th July
Sports day information
Reception/KS1 Sports Day: Tuesday 5th July 2022 Start Time: 9.30am
KS2 Sports Day: Tuesday 12th July 2022 Start Time: 9.30am
Spectators are welcome to arrive on the field from 9:15am. It will be lovely to have your support! With the number of Covid cases on the rise, we would be grateful if spectators could wait on the field by the fence nearest to Muxton Extra where this is plenty of space to spread out.
Both sports days should finish around 11am but again, these can run over given the nature of the events and how many children we have participating.
The schedule of our sports day will continue to be a carousel of activities, and, if enough time, we will endeavour to hold a more competitive element of races too!
For each sports day, we would love to see the children wear the colour of their house in the form of a t-shirt so that all groups can be easily recognised and each child can see they are representing their house. Don’t worry too much if this isn’t possible, wear as close to the colour or just a normal white PE top.
Please provide your child with a water bottle and a sun hat. If required please make sure that your child has sun cream applied in the morning before they leave for school.
You are welcome to take pictures and video clips of your child but please do not add them to any social media. We are not able to guarantee that siblings are in the same house but they will be able to support each other where possible and we will endeavour to make time for photos with a sibling too.
We look forward to holding an enjoyable sports day for all children and parents to be a part of!

Homework 01/07/22
This week we have been finding out which fruits people prefer. We have been collecting the information on a chart. The children have brought a chart home to find their family’s favourite fruit.
We have been looking at and drawing maps. We drew a map of our walk to the park. if you go on a walk this weekend can your child draw a map of their journey?
Bug Club Hall of Fame – 1.7.22
Hello Everyone,
Not as many of you have accessed Bug Club over the last two weeks but those of you that have been reading have scored really well on the comprehension questions. Well Done!
Let’s hope some more of you use Bug Club next week. Remember Bug Club will really help to improve those comprehension scores.
This term our celebrations are fortnightly, and our Star Readers are children who are achieving 50% or more when completing their comprehension questions (Bugs). So read the questions carefully and ensure you are using the text to help you answer the questions and not guessing at the answers.

Make sure when you are reading you complete all of the bug questions (otherwise the book doesn’t show as completed and won’t disappear to your library) – remember the bug goes to sleep once you’ve answered the question. Just a reminder, don’t guess at the answers to the questions, if necessary, go back and search the page for the answers like you would do if you were answering a comprehensive booklet.
If you have any problems, please email me at year5@muxtonprimary.co.uk
Remember, if you get locked out of your account: leave the site for 30 minutes it will reset, and you should then be able to access it again.

Homework 24.06.2022
This week the children have been fruit tasting and exploring the healthy food games on Purple Mash. Please discuss with your child their favourite fruit and get them to create a fruit bowl on Purple Mash. It will be available in the 2do section. The next level of Bond Bubbles shall also be available on your child’s 2do section.
Have a great weekend

A thank you to the Co-op
As part of our Jigsaw, Changing Me work we have been learning about healthy food. Donnington Co-op were kind enough to donate apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, strawberries and raspberries for us to taste.

Our caterpillars…
We were very excited this morning when we noticed that our caterpillars had made their cocoons.
