Our school will perform on the evening of Thursday 19th May at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
Children will attend school as usual in the morning and eat their lunch before leaving at 12:30pm to arrive in Birmingham for 1:30pm. As it will be a long day for the children you may wish to order a school dinner at lunchtime to help keep them going. Please supply a packed lunch for your child that can be eaten at the arena when rehearsals finish.
All choir members on this trip need to wear school uniform with the Young Voices t-shirt worn underneath. Year 5 children in Miss Leech’s class need to come to school in their PE kit and bring their school uniform including the Young Voices t-shirt with them so they can get changed. The PE kit can be kept at school and taken back on Friday.
If your child suffers with travel sickness please do send them with travel bands if that works for them or travel sickness pills.
They will rehearse through the afternoon before breaking for a packed lunch at some point from 5pm onwards.
The concert will then start at 7pm and end at 8:45pm. Children return on the school coach to Muxton. We cannot release children to parents at the end of the concert due to the high number of children and families in the arena. The organisers have asked schools to ensure that children return on school coaches.
We anticipate that we will arrive back to school at around 10pm. However, this is dependent on the concert finishing on time and also relies on how quickly schools are able to leave the car park at the end of the evening. We will keep you updated on our school twitter account throughout the evening.
We have heard from other schools that some parents have been delayed in leaving the event at the end of the concert due to the weight of traffic leaving the arena. Please do consider either pre-paying for your parking or park in the NIA car park which can be an easier car park to exit from.
If your child is tired and it fits with your schedule, on Friday morning we will make an allowance of up to 10am for your child to come into school before anyone is marked as late. Please come in through the front entrance.
All t-shirts have now been distributed. If your pack was missing a lanyard, poster and wristband they have been handed out too.
All tickets ordered through school have been distributed.
Please do contact the school if you have any questions about the trip via firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject line of Young Voices.
Staff attending the trip and warming up their singing voices: Mr Auckland, Mrs Price, Miss Leech, Mrs Poole and Mrs Beech.
